MARY QUEEN OF GUIDANCE 26-010 Scriptural Foundation: John 2:5 (NABRE) “Do whatever he tells you.” — John 2:5 At the Wedding at Cana, the Blessed Virgin Mary offers a simple yet profound instruction to the servants: “Do whatever he tells you.” These words reveal the heart of her maternal mission—to lead the faithful into an ever-deeper relationship with her Son, Jesus Christ. Mary Queen of Guidance reflects the enduring place of the Blessed Mother in the spiritual life of the Church. From the Annunciation to the foot of the Cross, Mary demonstrates a life of faith, humility, obedience, and complete surrender to the will of God. Throughout Christian history, the faithful have sought Mary’s maternal intercession and guidance. Honored as Queen of Heaven and Mother of the Church, she accompanies God’s children not as a substitute for Christ, but as a loving mother who continually directs their hearts toward Him. Her guidance is never separated from the Gospel. Rather, it encourages discernment, strengthens trust, and reminds the faithful that genuine peace is found in surrendering to the will of her Son. The painting invites the viewer to contemplate Mary’s continuing maternal care and to hear anew her timeless instruction at Cana. For wherever the Blessed Mother leads, her invitation remains the same: Listen to her Son, trust in His word, and follow Him faithfully. Deacon Rudy Calsoncin (Ret.)
